I’m in med school now. So that’s fun. Anyways, I’ve been thinking about kickstarting a series where I review a bunch of songs with the same title.

Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran– Ed Sheeran. My dude. I have so many questions. The worst part of this track is Ed Sheeran’s entire approach to this song lyrically and musically. Who told him to sing like this? It’s strangely Adam Levine-esque. I would have liked it if Charlie Puth sang this song. Also- the song would make more sense. The only good part of this track is the bass line, which is almost always true about Puth’s songs.

Bad Habit by The Kooks– The Kooks were an indie band that always had the potential to be bigger than they were. Most songs I hear from them, I really like. They have this Cage the Elephant/ Young the Giant/ Arctic Monkeys/ White Stripes type vibe but do manage to have their own personality and sound. However, due to fighting between band members, they never truly were able to establish themselves to the same degree as their peers. This song is pretty good, it’s nothing amazingly special, but I really like it. The Kooks are on tour right now, and apparently are really good live.

Bad Habit by FIDLAR This is some good garage band high school angst type shit. I have a soft spot for songs like this. I just think anger is such an interesting emotion to write about, especially if it’s general anger at the world you were born into. Also, the guitar riff goes hard and I really appreciate that. OMG IM BECOMING MY DAD feels like a line I would scream with my friends as we drove around the suburbs, looking for an empty playground to wander through. I’m definitely going to have to check out this band.

Bad Habit by Steve Lacy- Gen Z is all about the vibes. This song has some pretty good vibes. It’s not as groovy as Vulfpeck who has mastered this type of sound, but I do kinda like it. THe singing is horrible – but that’s also kinda the point. The lyrics are also very relatable to the teens and overall this is not a bad song. You will not surprise a Gemini did actually make me laugh out loud. I would rank this track somewhere in the middle of this list. However, the part where the musical backing drops should have just not been included.

Bad Habit by Your Smith– This song is so peaceful and serene. It’s just so comforting and calm. The lyrics also feel incredibly specific and personal. I just really love this song and I really admire this band. This song is the title track of a good, classic indie pop album. Also, the lead singer’s voice is just so heartbreakingly beautiful. She really sells this.

To summarize:

Your Smith > The Kooks > FIDLAR > Steve Lacy > Eddy Sheeran
